A vault app can fit more naturally into your home screen. Revault offers bundled appearance choices and an in-app display name without changing how your files are encrypted. The visible result depends on what iOS or Android allows.

Choose a bundled look

Open App icon & name in app settings and choose an available Revault, Notes or Documents appearance. Choices persist locally and affect the app’s presentation, rather than changing any vault’s key or contents.

Know the iOS naming limit

On iOS, the alternate-icon API can change the Home Screen icon, but the Home Screen label remains Revault. Your custom name appears inside the app. Android’s available launcher appearances use the bundled icon and label choices.

Keep security settings separate

An appearance change does not alter encryption, vault patterns, recovery keys or sync choices. It is an app-wide preference even when you reach it from a vault’s settings, rather than a way to give each vault its own installed app.

Choose a comfortable appearance without changing the vault

Appearance options help the app fit the way you arrange your phone. They do not create a different encryption system, a second installation or a separate set of files. You can keep using the same vault patterns, recovery material and storage choices after changing an available icon or the label shown inside the app.

Check what your operating system actually changes

On iOS, alternate icons come from the app’s bundled choices; a custom in-app name does not arbitrarily rename the installed app’s Home Screen label. Android launcher appearances use bundled icon and label aliases supported by the app and launcher. The result may therefore differ between the name in Revault’s header and the application label shown by device settings or a store receipt.

Example: personalize a phone used for everyday tasks

Open App settings, choose App icon & name and review the available icons. Save a display name that feels natural to you, then look at both the launcher and the app header to understand the result. If you want to return to the standard appearance, use the reset option. Treat this as a personal preference alongside, rather than a replacement for, vault locking.

Practical checklist

  • Review the supported bundled icon choices on your platform.
  • Check the installed launcher label and the in-app name separately.
  • Keep recovery, locking and cloud settings configured regardless of the appearance you choose.

Frequently asked questions

Can I upload any image as the installed app icon?

The native appearance options use supported bundled icons rather than an unrestricted icon upload. Installed app identities are governed by iOS and Android and may also be affected by the launcher in use.

Can each vault have its own installed app icon?

No. Appearance applies to the application, even when reached through a vault’s settings. Separate vaults retain their own access and settings, but changing appearance does not install an independent app for each one.

Will a different icon hide Revault from system settings?

No concealment guarantee is provided. Device settings, application records, purchases, cloud storage and operating-system indicators can still identify Revault or its activity. Do not rely on appearance changes to make sensitive information undiscoverable.
