Optional private cloud sync

Choose private iCloud or Google Drive sync, or Pro Revault Cloud for iPhone and Android together. Keep other vaults entirely local.

Your everyday vault can travel between your devices while another stays on one phone. Sync is off by default, and you choose whether to enable it for each vault on each device. You never need a Revault account to connect your native cloud.

Pro storage for encrypted vaults across iOS and Android. Revault receives ciphertext, never your vault key or recovery phrase. Switching providers leaves previous cloud copies in place.

Your platform’s private storage

iOS uses a private CloudKit database in iCloud. Android uses Google Drive’s private app storage. Files, names and previews are encrypted before transfer. Your cloud provider can still observe operational information such as sizes, identifiers and timestamps.

Connect another device deliberately

Use the same native cloud account on another device, connect the existing vault with its recovery key, and choose a pattern for that device. Patterns and local unlock secrets do not sync between devices.

Turn sync off per vault

Disable sync in that vault’s settings to stop further transfers from this device. Your local vault and encrypted copies already in the cloud remain. Sync can propagate changes and deletions while enabled, so keep a separate backup of important files.

Choose a provider for the devices you actually use

Use private iCloud storage for your Apple devices or private Google Drive storage for Android devices using the same provider account. For a vault that needs to stay current across iPhone and Android, choose Pro Revault Cloud. The provider choice belongs to the vault: it does not automatically move every collection you have into the cloud.

Adding a device is a deliberate enrollment

A new phone needs both permission to retrieve the encrypted data and a way to unlock it. Native cloud enrollment uses the same Apple or Google account and the vault recovery phrase. Revault Cloud uses its device-connection flow to pass the required vault capability securely. A store purchase by itself does not reveal a list of your encrypted vaults or replace their recovery material.

Understand offline work, deletions and provider changes

Files stored on the phone remain usable offline; files that have not finished downloading need a connection first. Enabled sync can carry edits and deletions to other connected devices, which is why a separate backup matters. Turning sync off stops future transfers from this device. Switching providers leaves earlier encrypted copies in place, so review each old provider’s retained data separately.

Practical checklist

  • Keep the recovery phrase and an independent encrypted backup before enabling another device.
  • Check sync status and open important downloaded files on the receiving device.
  • Resolve conflicting versions deliberately rather than assuming the last screen you viewed is the only copy.

Frequently asked questions

Can an Android phone use my private iCloud vault directly?

Private native clouds remain platform-specific. Use Revault Cloud for live iOS–Android synchronization, or make an encrypted phone-transfer package when you want a one-time move instead of ongoing sync.

Does disabling sync delete files from the cloud?

No. It stops further transfers for that vault on this device and retains local data and earlier encrypted cloud copies. Other devices can still have their own sync settings. Manage retained provider copies separately.

Is sync the same as an encrypted backup?

No. Sync keeps devices current, including propagating supported deletions. A separate exported backup is a point-in-time copy that can survive an unwanted edit, a deletion or a provider problem.
