Private vaults without an account

Create separate encrypted spaces on your phone. Each pattern opens only its matching vault, without a Revault account or sign-up.

Personal photos and important documents do not need to share the same space. Revault keeps each vault separate, with its own encryption key, recovery key and device pattern. Local vaults work without uploading your files to Revault.

One pattern, one private space

Draw your pattern on the 5 × 5 grid to open its vault. Other vaults and their names stay out of view. Patterns must be different across vaults enrolled on the same device; choosing a pattern does not reveal which other vaults exist.

Encryption starts on your phone

File contents, filenames, previews and folder information are encrypted locally. Each vault has a random AES-256-GCM master key. Optional sync sends encrypted data to your native cloud, while your local unlock secret stays on the device.

A recovery key you keep

Save the recovery key during setup. It lets you enroll a new device or restore an encrypted backup when your local pattern is unavailable. Revault does not keep a copy of that secret and cannot reset it for you.

Decide what belongs in a separate vault

Separate vaults are useful when collections need different handling: personal photos, household records and travel documents may need different sync or import preferences. A folder organizes files inside one unlocked space; a vault has its own encryption and unlock boundary. Opening one vault does not give the user a browser of all the others on that device.

A pattern is an unlock method, not your backup

The pattern combines with secret material held on the device to protect a randomly generated vault key. It is not a password you can enter on any phone to retrieve your files. For a replacement device you need encrypted vault data and the recovery phrase, then enroll a new local pattern. Keeping just a memorable pattern is not a recovery plan.

Example: keep a travel vault ready offline

Create a vault for passport copies and booking documents, save its recovery phrase outside the phone, and import only the records needed for the trip. Open the important files while offline before leaving. Choose whether this vault needs cloud sync, and keep an independent encrypted backup. Putting every sensitive record in the travel vault would expose more information whenever you unlock it.

Practical checklist

  • Save the recovery phrase somewhere you can reach without this phone.
  • Use separate vaults for different access boundaries and folders for organization within a vault.
  • Free users can create two vaults; Pro removes the vault-count limit. File and storage allowances remain separate.

Frequently asked questions

Does account-free mean anonymous to every service?

No Revault account is required for native local vaults. Optional platform sync, store purchases and network services still involve their providers and operational information. Account-free local storage does not mean cloud transfers or purchases become unobservable.

Can support reset my vault pattern?

Support cannot recover your encryption secret. Use the recovery phrase with a surviving encrypted backup or cloud copy to enroll a device again. The phrase alone cannot restore files that no longer exist anywhere.

Can I make two vaults use the same pattern?

Patterns must be unique among vaults enrolled on the same device so pattern entry can open the matching space without exposing a vault picker. Choose a different pattern when creating or re-enrolling another vault.
