PNG to WebP converter

Convert PNG images to WebP with adjustable quality and keep transparency. It uploads nothing and runs on your device. Needs Chrome, Edge or Firefox.

Runs on your device
Loading the tool…

WebP files are often much smaller than the PNG they replace, so pages load faster and uploads finish sooner. Add your PNG images, pick a quality and save WebP copies. Transparent areas stay transparent, and nothing is sent anywhere.

What happens to your data

  • Your images are converted by your browser. They are not uploaded to Revault or anywhere else.
  • Converted files are new files. Camera data in the originals, such as location, date and device, is not copied into them.
  • This page keeps nothing. Close or reload it and your images are gone.

Limits to know about

  • Safari can open WebP but cannot create it. Use Chrome, Edge or Firefox to make WebP files.
  • WebP below 100% is lossy. Screenshots with fine text or flat colour can look soft at low quality, so check the preview before you use the file.
  • Animated PNGs are converted from their first frame only.

Frequently asked questions

Does WebP keep transparency?

Yes. Transparent parts of your PNG stay transparent in the WebP file.

Will the WebP be smaller than the PNG?

Usually, often by a lot for photos and by less for simple graphics. The size of each result is shown so you can compare before you download.

Will every site accept a WebP file?

Current browsers all show WebP, but some upload forms, older apps and email programs still do not accept it. For those, convert to JPEG or PNG instead.
