Keep the useful part of a private clip without moving a decrypted copy through your gallery or another editing app. Revault’s native video editor works on this device, inside the unlocked vault. Review the selected time range, frame and audio before committing an encrypted replacement.

Keep the right moment

Set the start and end of the clip and preview the selected range. Remove an unwanted lead-in or ending while retaining the source frame rate on supported videos. Trimming changes the saved video, rather than merely hiding unwanted moments in the viewer.

Choose what stays in frame

Rotate in quarter turns, flip horizontally or vertically, and crop to the original frame, square, 4:5 or 16:9. Adjust the crop position to keep the intended subject in view. The preview uses the same crop and transforms as export.

Remove the audio track

Switch on Remove audio when a clip should contain no sound. The saved video has no audio track, rather than a muted playback setting. Preview the framing too: removing sound does not hide a face, address or message visible in the video.

Save privately and keep organization

The editor exports a fresh MP4 on the device, removes embedded descriptive and location metadata, then encrypts it before replacing the selected item. Its folder, tags and favourite status are retained. A failed export or encrypted commit keeps the existing file intact.

Prepare a private clip without handing it to another app

A clip may contain a useful moment alongside unrelated footage or a background conversation. Revault lets you shorten and reframe that clip inside the unlocked vault. The editor processes the video on this device and uses private working storage. It does not upload a decrypted video to an editing service or place its temporary output in the gallery. This keeps ordinary editing within the same privacy boundary as your stored files.

Trim the timeline and check the whole selected range

Use the start and end controls to select the part you want to keep, then play the preview. Check the first and last frames as well as the middle: an identifying detail can appear briefly even if the main subject looks safe. The saved output contains the selected time range. Undo and redo let you revisit recent choices before saving, while Back on a tool returns to the operation strip without discarding your edits.

For example, shorten a personal clip to the relevant moment, rotate it upright and choose a crop ratio that keeps the subject visible. Move the crop horizontally or vertically to adjust the framing. Review the entire clip after cropping, because a subject or a sensitive detail may move into the frame later. The crop is a fixed frame for the selected clip; it does not automatically track faces or moving objects.

Removing audio is different from hiding visible information

Remove audio deletes the audio track from the exported file. This is useful when background speech, names or sounds should not be included. It is not just a quiet playback preference. Visible text, faces, reflections and lip movements remain part of the image, so decide separately whether the video itself is suitable for the intended use. Photos can use the separate photo editor’s regional blur and solid redaction tools; those tools should not be assumed to track or conceal regions in a video.

MP4 export, encrypted replacement and what stays unchanged

Saving creates a fresh MP4 on the device using the selected trim, crop, rotation, flips and audio setting. Export can re-encode video and audio, changing quality or file size. Embedded descriptive and location metadata are removed from the new container, but visible information is still visible. The result is encrypted before replacing the selected item, retaining its folder, tags and favourite status. Failed export or commit leaves the previous item intact.

Supported inputs have one standard-range video track, at most one audio track and a supported frame rate. HDR video, high-frame-rate clips and unsupported track layouts are rejected rather than silently losing characteristics. Saved edits cannot be undone inside the editor. Optional sync distributes the saved replacement; separately exported originals, earlier backups and existing shared copies are not rewritten. Keep an independent original when you may need a longer version later.

Practical checklist

  • Make the video available offline before opening Edit video.
  • Preview the full selected range after trimming, reframing or removing audio.
  • Retain a separate original or encrypted backup before committing a permanent edit.

Frequently asked questions

Can I edit a video without uploading it to the cloud?

Yes. Local video editing does not require a cloud editing service. With sync disabled, the edited item stays in the local vault. With sync enabled, the saved replacement can be transferred afterward as encrypted data.

Does Remove audio permanently remove the sound from the saved clip?

It removes the audio track from the newly saved video. It does not change an original outside Revault, an earlier backup or a copy already shared with someone. Keep those copies in mind when deciding what remains accessible.

Does cropping a video follow a moving subject?

The crop is fixed for the selected time range. You can set its position and review the result, but the editor does not automatically track a person, face or object. Preview the whole clip to check that the framing remains appropriate.

Will video editing change quality, storage or organization?

The MP4 export may change quality and file size because it can re-encode the video. Saving replaces one vault item and keeps its folder, tags and favourite status. The editor does not retain the original as a second item or a permanent editing project.
