Move a vault to a new phone

Choose ongoing cloud sync or an encrypted one-time transfer between iOS and Android.

Choose a connection or a move

Use Revault Cloud when both phones need to keep receiving changes, including across iOS and Android. Use the encrypted phone-transfer flow for a one-time move. Native iCloud or Google Drive syncing is suited to devices using the same platform cloud account.

Complete a one-time transfer safely

  1. In the source vault’s settings, prepare Move to another phone. Save the encrypted .qvault transfer and its separate transfer key. Keep the old phone’s vault intact until verification is complete.
  2. Move the encrypted file through a channel you control and provide its transfer key separately. On the receiving phone, use the restore/import flow and enter that key.
  3. Follow the new device’s pattern and recovery setup, then check file counts, folders and several representative items. Choose its sync provider deliberately; importing a transfer is not the same as enabling ongoing cloud sync.
  4. Once verified, remove unnecessary transfer copies and their keys from the destinations you used. A retained package and key can be reused; this is not a remotely revocable transfer.

If the old phone is unavailable

Use a surviving encrypted cloud copy or independent backup with its recovery phrase. A transfer cannot be created from a missing device. Before replacing a phone, keep a tested backup and recovery material somewhere other than that phone.
