Choose where this vault syncs
- Open the unlocked vault’s settings and review its sync and storage section. Sync is optional for each vault. Keeping one collection local does not prevent another from using a cloud provider.
- Choose iCloud on Apple devices or private Google Drive storage on Android for the same platform cloud account. These providers do not directly share their private vault storage with the other mobile platform.
- Choose Revault Cloud when you need the same encrypted vault on iOS and Android. It requires the appropriate paid Cloud allowance; Pro by itself does not include Revault Cloud storage.
- Let the first sync finish and verify representative files before depending on a second device. Keep an independent encrypted backup before changing storage providers.
Connect without creating a Revault account
For Revault Cloud, use the existing vault’s connection code and recovery phrase in the receiving app’s Connect Revault Cloud flow. Treat both as sensitive and pass them privately. Set up the new device’s local pattern and verify the files. Connection codes enrol devices; they are not public sharing links.
Native-cloud recovery uses the appropriate iCloud or Google account and your vault’s recovery material. Your local pattern is not synced as an unlock credential. A new phone cannot access encrypted files just because it knows the vault name.
If sync is unavailable or you change provider
Check network access, the chosen provider account, device storage and the provider’s available allowance. Review any conflict notice instead of repeatedly forcing a sync. An iOS simulator may lack a usable iCloud account; verify native syncing on a signed physical device with the configured capabilities.
Changing the provider is a vault-level decision. Verify the destination’s encrypted copy before removing older data, and do not assume disabling sync deletes a previous cloud copy. Deletions can propagate between connected devices; use a separate backup for recovery from an unwanted change.
